Margaret Court Biography

A true tennis legend, Margaret Court is a former world number one player who won the most Grand Slam titles ever.  Court won 24 Grand Slam singles titles, 19 doubles titles, and 21 mixed doubles championships.  No one will likely ever match her 210-23 record in Grand Slam singles matches or her 91.4 percent career singles winning percentage.  Court is the only woman to win a Grand Slam in all three disciplines and only the second woman in the open era to win the singles Grand Slam in the same calendar year.  She is a member of the International Tennis Hall of Fame and Sport Australia Hall of Fame.  In 1967, she was made Member of the Order of the British Empire.  Prior to the Battle of the Sexes match between Bobby Riggs and Billie Jean King in 1973, Court had her own nationally televised match against Riggs.  She is a Pentecostal minister and founded a church in Perth, Australia in 1995 that she still preaches at.  A television show featuring her called A Life of Victory runs regularly on the Australian Christian Channel.
