Marni Yamada Biography

Marni Yamada grew up ski racing for the first nineteen years of her life. Trading her skis in for a snowboard, Yamada has since competed in the Winter X Games five times and earned a bronze medal in the 2001 Slopestyle. She is a very welldiversified athlete whom went on to take top five finishes in almost every possible snowboard practice, from big air to slalom to everything in between. One of Yamada’s most notable accomplishments was being ranked 4th in the world in boardercross after the 2001 season. In addition to training for the U.S. Snowboard B Team, she fundraises for Northwest for Breast, a breast-cancer awareness charity benefiting Seattle’s Fred Hutcheson Cancer Research Center. Yamada has been a college graduate since 2000 and is currently pursuing a career in yoga, carrying the mental and physical strength she practiced as an athlete over to the yoga mat. She is also striving for excellence and creating new beginnings while serving as the head coach and program director for the first freeride team at Stevens Pass, WA.
