Matt Holliday Biography

Matt Holliday was a star outfielder for the Colorado Rockies and St. Louis Cardinals. Growing up, Holliday showed much talent in baseball, football, and basketball. Holliday and his brother spent much time at the Oklahoma State University baseball field with their father who was the coach of the baseball team. This is where Holliday learned much about baseball, but his father never forced him to play the sport. While in high school, Holliday played baseball and football. In his senior year, he earned All-American honors in baseball and football. He also earned the Gatorade Player of the Year award in both sports. The Colorado Rockies selected Holliday in the 7th round of the 1998 MLB Draft. Holliday remained in the minors from 1998-2004. Holliday made his Major League debut on April 16, 2004. He has also played for the Oakland Athletics and the St. Louis Cardinals. Holliday is a 6x All-Star, World Series Champion, NLCS MVP, 4x Silver Slugger Award Winner, NL Batting Champion and NL RBI Champion.
