Matt Ryan Biography

Matt Ryan was one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL throughout his 15-year career, spending 14 of those seasons with the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons originally selected Ryan with the first pick in the 2008 NFL Draft and he blossomed into a four-time Pro Bowler and the 2016 NFL MVP. 

In that 2016 season, Ryan also led the Falcons to Super Bowl LI and was named a first-team All-Pro and the NFL Offensive Player of the Year. His impending success in Atlanta was apparent immediately when he led the franchise to the playoffs in his first year and was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year.

Before rewriting the Falcons record books, Ryan played college football at Boston College. He was the ACC Player of the Year in 2007, a first-team All-American, and a two-time First-Team All-ACC selection. His jersey was retired by the school in 2016. 

Ryan spent one final year in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts in 2022 before retiring from football. He is currently an analyst for CBS Sports and The NFL Today.
