Melanie Oudin Biography

Melanie Oudin is a professional tennis player and former world junior no. 2. Oudin was introduced to tennis when she was seven years old by her grandmother, and she was automatically hooked. When she was nine years old, Oudin was watching the Wimbledon and made it her dream to play in it one day. After the seventh grade, Oudin told her parents that she would like to be homeschooled so she can devote more time to tennis. In 2007, Oudin won 27 consecutive matches en route to four consecutive titles in the ITF Junior Circuit. She turned professional in February 2008. In April of 2008, Oudin received a wildcard at the WTA tournament where she lost in the first round. Oudin won the 2011 Open GDF Suez. She was a member of the American Fed Cup from 2009-2011 and she was the winner of the 2011 U.S. Open mixed doubles title.
