Mike Lowell Biography
Mike Lowell played 13 seasons in the big leagues with the New York Yankees, Florida Marlins and Boston Red Sox. Lowell got his start in pro ball after being selected in the 20th round by the New York Yankees in the 1995 MLB Draft out of Florida International University. He’d go on to make his MLB Debut in 1998 with the Yankees and was then traded to the Marlins in 1999. While playing with the Marlins he helped his team to a World Series title in 2003 and was a three time AllStar, Gold Glove Award winner at third base in 2005 and Silver Slugger Award winner in 2003. After the 2005 season he signed a three-year, $37.5 million contract with the Red Sox and went on to earn another All-Star selection in 2007 while leading his team to a World Series title. That season he was also named World Series MVP after an incredible fall classic. After his retirement in 2010 he signed on with the MLB Network and makes regular appearances on their hit show MLB Tonight.
