Monte Ross Biography

Monte Ross began his career in basketball as a player before transitioning into coaching. He picked up a basketball for the first time at a young age and over time he improved his skills on the court. He continued to play all the way through college when he attended and played for the Winston-Salem State University basketball program. He played as a guard and regularly led the team to victories and successful seasons. After finishing school Ross got into coaching the very next season as an assistant. From 1993 until 2006 he served for several different programs as an assistant where he gained valuable knowledge he could use once he got the opportunity to be a head coach. That opportunity came in 2006 when he was hired by Delaware to lead their program. Since then he has won the CAA Coach of the Year Award, and led the team to a regular season title and the CAA Tournament Championship in 2014.
