Oscar Robertson Biography

Oscar Robertson is a retired basketball guard for the NBA. Robertson attended the University of Cincinnati where he won a scoring title in each of his three years there. He was also named an All-American and he was chosen as the College Player of the Year while he set 14 NCAA and 19 school records. Robertson helped the Bearcats to two NCAA Final Four appearances. Robertson and Jerry West co-captained the U.S. basketball team in the 1960 Summer Olympics. The team went undefeated in the Olympics and took home the gold. The Cincinnati Royals selected Robertson in the 1960 NBA Draft. As a rookie, Robertson was named Rookie of the Year and he was elected into the All-NBA First Team. During his career, Robertson was a 12x NBA All-Star, 3x NBA All-Star Game MVP, 9x All-NBA First Team, 2x All-NBA Second Team and 6x NBA assists leader. Robertson and the Milwaukee Bucks won the NBA Championship in 1971. Robertson was elected into the Wisconsin Athletic Hall of Fame in 1995.
