Patrick Ewing Biography

Patrick Ewing is a retired NBA player and current assistant coach. Ewing began his playing career at Georgetown University, where he was a three-time All-American and an NCAA champion in 1984. In the 1985 NBA Draft, Ewing was drafted by the New York Knicks, a team he would play for the majority of his career. In 15 seasons with New York, Ewing was the Rookie of the Year, an 11-time all-star, and became the New York Knicks' all-time leading scorer. In 2000, Ewing was traded to the Seattle SuperSonics, ending his storied time with the Knicks as the only player to ever play 1,000 games as a Knick. After a season with the SuperSonics and another with the Orlando Magic, Ewing decided to retire, ending his career averaging 21 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. In 2002, Ewing started his coaching career as an assistant with the Washington Wizards and has served this role with the Houston Rockets, the Orlando Magic the Charlotte Hornets. He also had a stint as the head coach at Georgetown.
