Paul Konerko Biography

Paul Konerko is, quite simply, one of the best and most beloved players in Chicago White Sox history. After starting his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Cincinnati Reds, Konerko went on to spend 16 seasons on the South Side. He was a six-time American League All-Star and the White Sox captain from 2006-14. Konerko played a vital role in helping Chicago win the 2005 World Series, their first championship since 1917. He was ALCS MVP that year and his five postseason home runs set a franchise record. In his final year, Konerko was honored for his sportmanship and community work with the Roberto Clemente Award. He finished with 439 home runs and over 2,000 hits. Konerko ranks second and third in franchise history in both categories respectively. The White Sox have honored him with a statue in left field and by retiring his number.
