Paul Pierce Biography

Paul Pierce was an NBA superstar who retired in 2017 and was elected to the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021. Pierce is widely known for his time with the Boston Celtics, as he was part of the Big Three of Kevin Garnett, himself, and Ray Allen. Pierce played his college ball at Kansas under legendary coach Roy Williams, winning the MVP of the Big 12 conference in 1997 and 1998. In the 1998 NBA Draft, Pierce was selected tenth overall by the Boston Celtics, becoming a fan favorite and impacting the team immediately, making the NBA AllRookie team. Pierce would go on to lead the Celtics to a rejuvenation of sorts, reaching the Playoffs multiple times, but was unable to take them all the way to a championship without some help. That all changed in 2007, as the Celtics acquired both Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, then went on to win the Finals that same season, with Pierce winning the Finals MVP. Over the next few years, the Celtics would be considered one of the NBA’s best, but he was traded, along with Kevin Garnett, to the Brooklyn Nets in 2013, playing one season for the team before signing a two year deal with the Washington Wizards.
