Phil Davis Biography

Phil Davis is a talented light-heavyweight fighter in the UFC.  Davis has had two runs at the light-heavyweight belt and beaten noted MMA fighters like Glover Teixeira, Lyota Machida, and Alexander Gustafsson.  He started his pro career 9-0, which included his first five victories in the UFC.  His unique submission of Tim Boestch won Submission of the Night at UFC 123.  A debut decision win over Brian Stann at UFC 109 in 2010 marked Davis’ presence in the Octagon.  The Harrisburg, Pennsylvania native acquired a great wrestling resume while attending Penn State.  For the Nittany Lions, Davis was a four-time All-American and had a career record of 116-15.  As a senior, he won the NCAA title at 197 pounds.  He started training with LionHeart MMA immediately after graduation and eventually moved cross-country to train at Alliance MMA in San Diego.  Davis’ wrestling career began in eighth grade and he went 112-17 at Harrisburg High School.
