Phil Tataurangi Biography

Phil Tataurangi was born in Auckland, New Zealand and represented his home country on the golf course at the 1988 and 1992 Eisenhower Trophy.  In 1992 he led the New Zealand team to a team championship at the Eisenhower Trophy and also brought home the individual title.  The following year he turned pro and went on to win the 1996 Australian PGA Championship on the PGA Tour of Australasia.  That same season he won the Nike Tri-Cities Open on the Nationwide Tour and represented New Zealand at the World Cup.  In 2002 he won the Invensys Classic at Las Vegas for his first win on the PGA Tour.  Thus far in PGA major tournaments he has been a solid competitor, finishing 39th at the 2003 Masters Tournament and 61st at the 2003 PGA Championship.  Tataurangi is a member of the epic 2001 PGA Tour qualifying school class that has become one of the most successful in tour history.
