Rich Rodriguez Biography

Rich Rodriguez has long been an innovator on offense in college football. Before getting his first position as a head coach, Rich spent several years learning and gaining experience as an assistant coach. That time learning molded Rodriguez into the coach that has now led his teams to 4 Big East Championships, and a Pac-12 South Championship. Rich has coached his teams to a 146-97-2 overall record in his career and coached in eight bowl games. His work has earned him the Big East Coach of the Year Award twice, the WVIAC Coach of the Year Award twice, and the Pac-12 Coach of the Year Award. Rich is also known as a pioneer in the creation of a no-huddle, run-oriented spread offense and the zone read play run that uses the shotgun formation. It took Rich years to develop and refine this style of play, but he most notably implemented it successfully while he was a coach at West Virginia and has used it ever since.
