Rick Stockstill Biography

Before his career in coaching, Rick Stockstill played as a quarterback for Florida State University where he was a three-year letterman and team captain as well as earned honorable mention All-American honors in 1981. After his time as a player, Rick went into coaching, first as an offensive coordinator for Bethune Cookman University in 1983 followed by stints with UCF, Clemson, and East and South Carolina in positions including wide receivers and quarterbacks coach. 

In 2006, after 24 years of serving as an assistant, Stockstill landed his first head coaching position at Middle Tennessee where he led the Blue Raiders to a bowl game and a share of the conference title in his first season. 

Stockstill had an impressive 18-year tenure piloting the MTSU program and won 113 games. He was a three-time conference Coach of the Year, twice in the Sun Belt and once in Conference USA.
