Shelley Rudman is a skeleton bobsledder. A university friend and GB skeleton athlete introduced Rudman to skeleton bobsledding in October 2002. She decided to apply for an ice school in Norway that is run by the British Military to pursue the sport and realize her dream of being selected for Great Britain. In 2003, Rudman qualified for the World Junior Championships and finished 10th. She won the Europa Cup in 2005 and the gold medal in the World University Games the following year. Rudman competed in the 2006 Winter Olympics where she won the silver medal. Rudman finished 10th at the FIBT World Championships and later announced that she would be taking the following season off to birth her child. Rudman won the 2008-09 Skeleton World Cup on December 12, 2008. On January 29, 2010, she was officially announced to the Team GB Skeleton Bobsled squad. When she is not competing, Rudman supports The Stroke Association and Right to Play.
