Tab Ramos Biography

Tab Ramos is a former American soccer player who played for numerous club teams as well as the United States national team. After immigrating to the United States from Uruguay when he was 11, Ramos burst onto the American soccer scene by winning the 1983 Parade Magazine High School Player of the Year, as well as being named a two time high school All American. This success led to his signing at North Carolina State University, where Ramos was All ACC four times and named an All American three times. He first represented the United States in the 1988 Summer Olympics, and signed a contract with the U.S. national team a year later. Ramos retired from the national team in 2000 after a storied career that included 3 World Cups, 81 caps, and eight goals scored. This experience led Ramos to being named the coach of the United States U-20 national team, as well as serving as coach Jurgen Klinsmann’s assistant coach for the United States men’s national soccer team.
