Todd Helton Biography

Todd Helton played all 17 of his major league seasons with the Colorado Rockies and is a Tennessee native. After playing almost every sport imaginable at Central Valley High School he signed to play both baseball and football at the University of Tennessee. In 1995 he was selected by the Colorado Rockies in the first round as the 8th overall pick, and went on to have a legendary career, earning five All-Star selections, three Gold Glove Awards, four Silver Slugger Awards and the National League batting Title in 2000. When he retired after the 2013 season he held the Rockies club records in hits, home runs, doubles, walks, runs scored, RBI, games played, and total bases. In his final game at Coors Field in 2013 he was honored by the Rockies during a pre-game ceremony and hit a homerun in the game, thus closing out his career on the highest note possible.
