Vince Young Biography

Vince Young is often remembered for giving us one of the most thrilling BCS National Championship Games in recent memory when his Texas Longhorns defeated the Trojans of USC in the 2006 Rose Bowl. During the game, Young set several BCS records by accounting for 467 total yards with 5 total touchdowns. For his career, he compiled a 30-2 record as a starter, throwing for over 6,000 yards and rushing for another 3,100 while accounting for 81 total touchdowns and setting the majority of UT’s quarterback records. Young was the Davey O’Brien Award winner and runner-up in the Heisman Trophy voting as a redshirt junior. At the 2006 NFL Draft, Young was selected 3rd overall by the Tennessee Titans where he spent the first 5 years of his NFL career. Young had a standout year as a rookie, making his first trip to the Pro Bowl while being named NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year but his play would only reach that level one more season (2009) when he again made the Pro Bowl and was named NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year. Young retired from professional football in 2014 and has returned to his alma mater to work for alumni relations.
