Ben McLemore Biography

Ben McLemore played his high school basketball at Wellston High School in St. Louis, Missouri, Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Virginia and Christian Life Center in Humble, Texas.  After a standout prep career in which he was named the 34th ranked player in the country he signed a scholarship to play at the University of Kansas.  During his redshirt freshman season in 2012-13 he averaged 16.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game while shooting 50.7% from the field.  His performance put him in the final running for the John R. Wooden Award, given to the top collegiate player in the country.  In the 2013 NBA Draft he was selected in the first round with the 7th overall pick by the Sacramento Kings.  Heralded for his jump shot and athleticism on both sides of the court, McLemore is a dynamic threat and valuable asset to the Kings’ roster.  During his rookie season he averaged 8.8 points per game and displayed a savvy veteran presence as a young player.
