Chris Weinke Biography

After a short stint in the Toronto Blue Jays farm system, Chris Weinke returned to a career on the gridiron where he was one of the most decorated football players in Florida State University history. After being offered a scholarship by Coach Bobby Bowden, Weinke took the FSU job by storm, leading the Seminoles to their second National Championship in 1999 and an undefeated record. In his senior campaign, at the age of 28, Weinke led the nation in passing and became the oldest player to ever win the Heisman Trophy. Weinke posted a 32-3 record as a starter at FSU, still holds all of the FSU passing records, and became the seventh Seminole to have his jersey retired. After a phenomenal college career, Weinke failed to make a wave in the NFL after 7 seasons with the Carolina Panthers and the San Francisco 49ers. After retiring, John Madden recruited Weinke to be the director of IMG Madden Football Academy. He ended up coaching quarterbacks in the NFL with the Carolina Panthers and is currently in that same role at Georgia Tech.
