Dell Curry Biography

Dell Curry played 16 seasons in the NBA from 1986 to 2002 and retired as the Charlotte Hornets all-time leading scorer. Prior to his NBA career he starred at Virginia Tech University in his home state. During his college career he scored 2,389 points and became the Hokies all-time leader in steals with 295. In his final season he was named Metro Conference Player of the Year. Curry was also a star on the baseball diamond during his time at Tech, posting a 6-1 record with a 3.81 ERA as a junior and earning a 14th round draft selection by the Baltimore Orioles in the 1985 MLB Draft. However, after being selected in the first round of the 1986 NBA Draft he decided to pursue a career in basketball. After one season with the Utah Jazz he played one year for the Cavaliers before joining the Charlotte Hornets for 10 seasons. During his time with the Hornets he earned the NBA Sixth Man of the Year award in 1994. He’d go on to play with the Milwaukee Bucks before retiring as a Toronto Raptor in 1992.
