DeMarcus Ware Biography

DeMarcus Ware is an Auburn, Alabama native and was a two-sport star at Auburn High School in football and track and field before continuing his football career at Troy University. During his time at Troy he recorded 195 tackles and 27.5 sacks, which ranks second all-time in Trojan history and also broke the school record in tackles for a loss with 57. In 2005 he was selected in the 1st round of the NFL Draft by the Dallas Cowboys and began a successful pro football career. During his first eight seasons in Dallas he earned seven Pro-Bowl appearances, seven NFL All-Pro selections, led the NFL in sacks twice in 2008 and 2010 and was named both the NFC Defensive Player of the Year and NFL Alumni Pass Rusher of the Year in 2008. In 2008 and 2011 he earned the NFL Dick Butkus Award as the leagues top linebacker. After earning a spot on the NFL 2000’s All-Decade team he signed a three-year, $30 million contract with the Broncos in 2013 that includes $20 million in guaranteed money. Ware is a member of the 100 sacks club, having recorded 13.5 quarterback sacks in his career to go along with 654 tackles, 35 forced fumbles and three career interceptions.
