Ed Reed Biography

Ed Reed is perhaps the greatest safety in the National Football League’s history. Reed first took national stage as a safety for the University of Miami from 1997-2001. Reed broke out in his redshirt junior year of 2000 and followed it up with his second First-Team All-American selection in 2001. Reed set multiple records with the Hurricanes and helped win the 2001 National Championship for The U. Ed Reed entered the NFL in 2002 with the Baltimore Ravens and is in the 12th season of his career. Ed Reed has made a name for himself as one of the greatest safeties of all time and has the stats and records to prove it. Known as a ball hawk, Reed has five NFL records, made 8 Pro-Bowl appearances, is an NFL Defensive Player of the Year winner, and a Super Bowl Championship with the Ravens. Reed’s records include most interceptions in a playoff career (9), longest interception returned for a TD (108), most career interception return yards (1,590), and he became the first person in NFL history to return an interception, a fumble, and a blocked punt for touchdowns. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2019.
