Emma Hayes Biography

Emma Hayes is the manager of the U.S. women's national soccer team and is regarded as one of the best coaches in the world. Hayes gained a sterling reputation in the profession during her decade-plus at the helm of Chelsea in the Women's Super League. She racked up a winning percentage above 70%, earning six Manager of the Year awards in the league. Hayes won six Women's Super League and five Women's FA Cup titles. She was named an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 2022 for her contributions to the sport. 

Prior to managing overseas, Hayes led the Chicago Red Stars and coached in college at Iona. Her first job in coaching was with the Long Island Lady Riders in 2002. She is originally from London and grew up playing the sport. Hayes joined Arsenal's academy as a junior, but a skiing accident when she was 17 ended her playing career.
