Esther Vergeer Biography

Esther Vergeer is the greatest wheelchair tennis player of all-time.  Vergeer was the number one ranked player in the world from 1999 until her 2013 retirement.  During part of that span leading into 2013, she won 470 consecutive matches.  Overall, Vergeer captured 42 Grand Slams and 22 season championships.  She has seven Paralympic titles also on her register.  Her total career record was 700-25.  Vergeer was left paralyzed from the waist down after the discovery of Vascular myelopathy as a child.  Now, she inspires many by sharing her amazing story at various speaking engagements throughout the world.  The Esther Vergeer Foundation also assists children with disabilities through sports.
