George Martin Biography

The NFL’s all-time leader in touchdowns scored by a defensive lineman is a man named George Martin.  When the Giants selected Martin in the 11th round of the 1975 NFL Draft they saw him as an intriguing prospect, and he’d go on to prove his worth, earning a starting job and missing only six games during his 14 year career in New York.  In 2004 Martin was honored with induction into the Sports Hall of Fame of New Jersey.

The tragic events of September 11, 2001 greatly affected Martin, and in 2007 he walked over 3,000 miles from New York City to San Diego to raise funding for the medical care for the first responders of the attacks.  His walk raised over $2 million to benefit the cause.
