Graeme McDowell Biography

Irish PGA Tour star Graeme McDowell first started playing golf for fun as a kid with his father. Eventually that fun would turn into a passion and that passion into a lucrative professional career. After winning the Irish Youth Championship in 1999 he made his way to the University of Alabama-Birmingham and began his rise to the top. During his collegiate career he won nine tournaments, was twice named the Conference USA Player of the Year, earned two All-American nods and was awarded the NCAA National Player of the Year award in 2002. After earning degrees in Economics and Engineering at UAB he turned pro and eventually joined the PGA Tour. In 2010 and 2012 he won the Chevron World Challenge and has also tacked on eight international victories in Europe. His PGA Tour wins include a U.S. Open Championship win in 2010 and a win at the 2013 RBC Heritage. In 2013 he used his career winnings to open up an upscale restaurant and sports bar called Nona Blue outside Lake Nona in Orlando, Florida.
