Guy Boucher Biography

Guy Boucher is the former head coach of the Tampa Bay Lightning and Ottawa Senators. Before breaking into coaching, Boucher played hockey collegiately at McGill University between 1991 and 1995, eventually going to play professionally in France in 1996. Boucher returned home to become an assistant coach at McGill University for a season before moving on to coaching with various junior hockey teams. In 2009, Boucher was named head coach of the Montreal Canadians AHL affiliate, marking his first professional hockey experience as a head coach, leading the team to a 52-17-11 record. This impressive season led to Boucher being offered multiple NHL head coaching jobs with the Columbus Blue Jackets and the Lightning. In his first season at the helm, Boucher led the Lightning to the Eastern Conference Finals with a 46 and 25 record. He also took the Senators to the ECF in 2017.
