Hal Sutton Biography

Hal Sutton had a very successful run on the PGA Tour, winning 14 tournaments, including the 1983 PGA Championship. In 1983, Sutton also was the PGA Tour Player of the Year and the leading money winner. He did suffer some mid-career struggles, but bounced back in a big way to be named the PGA Tour Comeback Player of the Year in 1994. Four years later, Sutton won twice, including at the Tour Championship to finish fifth on the money list. He won the Players Championship for the second time of his career in 2000, defeating Tiger Woods in the final group on Sunday. Sutton was a four-time Ryder Cup participant and captain of the team in 2004. Throughout his career, he has also been recognized for his efforts to give back, including with the 2007 Payne Stewart Award.
