Jo-Wilfried Tsonga Biography

Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has represented his home country of France well on the professional Tennis Circuit since turning pro in 2004 after a decorated junior career. In 2003 he reached a career high No. 2 world junior ranking after capturing the US Open Junior title. The following year he upset a former world No. 1 ranked player and put his name on the map. He’d eventually go on to finish as the runner-up in the 2008 Australian Open and win the ATP Masters Series championship that same year. Thus far in his career he has been a solid Grand Slam performer, making semi-final appearances in the 2010 Australian Open, 2013 French Open and 2011 and 2012 Wimbledon championships. He also reached the final of the 2011 ATP World Tour finals and won the 2014 Canadian Open. As of 2014 he is the No. 12 ranked player in the world and has been ranked as high as No. 5 in the world. As a testament to his durability and success on tour, he has topped $14 million in earnings as a professional player.
