John Coughlin Biography

John Coughlin is a two-time U.S. National Championship pairs figure skater.  Coughlin won both the 2012 and 2011 titles with separate partners.  He teamed up with Caydee Denney in 2011 and the duo most recently captured the bronze at the 2014 U.S. Championships.  As a result, they just missed being one of two teams to represent the American delegation at the 2014 Winter Olympics.  In addition to the pair’s success on the national scene, Coughlin/Denney won the silver at the 2012 Four Continents.  They have only competed in the World Championships once and finished eight in 2012.  With his previous partner Caitlin Yankowskas, Coughlin finished sixth at the 2011 Worlds, the highest American finish since 2006.  He has also competed as an individual twice at the U.S. Championships, but never placed higher than 11th.  Coughlin started skating at the age of five in Kansas City, Missouri.
