John Lackey Biography

John Lackey has won over 150 major league games, but he is best known as a postseason hero for two different franchises.  As a rookie, he started and won Game 7 of the 2002 World Series for the Anaheim Angels.  Lackey also won a deciding Game 6 of the 2013 World Series for the Boston Red Sox.  He experienced his greatest individual success with the Angels in 2007, pitching a career-high 224 innings and going 19-9 with a league best 3.01 ERA.  Lackey made his only All-Star appearance during that season and finished third in American League Cy Young voting.  At the 2014 trade deadline, he was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals where he continues to pitch for the perennial playoff contenders.  After arriving in St. Louis, he made his seventh postseason appearance and started two games.  The Angels originally selected Lackey in the second round of the 1999 MLB Draft.
