John Lynch Biography

John Lynch enjoyed a long and successful 15-year career in the National Football League with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Denver Broncos and New England Patriots from 1993 to 2008. Lynch joined the Buccaneers as a third round pick in 1993 after a standout career at Stanford University. In 1992 he was selected in the second round of the MLB draft by the Florida Marlins, and played minor league baseball as a pitcher during his final two years of college. However, he ultimately decided to pursue a career in football, and it paid off. During his career he earned nine ProBowl selections, four NFL All-Pro nods, and the 2000 NFL Alumni Defensive Back of the Year award in route to helping the Buccaneers to a win in Super Bowl XXXVII. He also earned the Whizzer White NFL Man of the Year and Bart Starr Man of the Year awards in 2006 for his dedication to leadership and community. He retired in 2008 with 1,058 tackles, 13 sacks and 26 interceptions. He was honored in 2010 with the Junior Seau Foundation Legend of the Year Award.
