John MacLean Biography

John MacLean played in the NHL for 23 seasons with the New Jersey Devils, San Jose Sharks, New York Rangers and Dallas Stars from 1983 to 2002. He got his start in the NHL after playing three seasons with the Oshawa Generals in the OHL, where he scored 77 goals and added 109 assists in 153 games. During his NHL career scored 413 goals and added 429 assists for a total of 842 points in 1,194 career games. He also added 35 goals and 48 assists for a total of 83 points in 104 playoff games. MacLean was voted to the NHL All-Star game twice in 1989 and 1991 and named the New Jersey Devils MVP in 1990. He currently holds New Jersey franchise records for single season points, single season goals, playoff points, playoff goals, playoff assists, and power play points. He also holds San Jose Sharks franchise record for playoff points and playoff goals. After retiring as a player he coached one season in Lowell in the AHL and one season in the NHL with the New Jersey Devils in 2010-11.
