Kara Goucher Biography

Kara Goucher has been a competitive runner for over 20 years. She was born in Queens, New York and grew up in Duluth, Minnesota. After a stellar prep running career she attended the University of Colorado in Boulder, Colorado. While running Colorado she won an NCAA Championship in cross-country in 1998 and was a stand out performer on the track team. She also met her husband at Colorado, who just so happens to be an NCAA cross-country champion himself. Goucher's achievements as an elite long-distance runner include winning the bronze medal in the 2007 World Championships in the 10,000 meter, competing on the U.S. Olympic team in 2012 and 2008, placing first in the 2012 USA Half Marathon Championships and placing third in the 2012 Olympic marathon trials in Houston, Texas. As a valuable brand ambassador she has represented several notable companies, including Nike, Skechers, Nuun and Soleus.
