Kawhi Leonard began his rookie year in the NBA as a 15th overall pick for the 2010-2011 season to the Indiana Pacers, but was traded to the San Antonio Spurs that same night. At the conclusion of the NBA lockout in 2011 he signed his first multiyear contract with the Spurs. Leonard placed fourth in the Rookie of the Year voting and was named to the 2012 All-Rookie first team. In the 2012 off-season, Leonard was chosen for the USA Men’s Basketball Select Team; they trained with the Olympic team, which featured Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Durant and other stars. In his 2012-2013 season, Leonard and the Spurs advanced to the NBA Finals where they faced the Miami Heat in an epic seven game competition where Miami ultimately came out on top. In 2014 the Spurs met the Heat again in the NBA Finals and took home the trophy with a 4-1 series win. During this series Leonard averaged 17.8 points on 61% shooting, earning him the NBA Finals MVP award as the third youngest player ever to receive it. He went on to make two All-Star games and two All-NBA teams while in San Antonio. Leonard was traded to the Toronto Raptors in 2018 and led the franchise to their first championship that same season. He is currently a star with the Los Angeles Clippers.
