Lisa Raymond Biography

Lisa Raymond grew up in Norristown, Pennsylvania and played tennis at the University of Florida before turning pro in 1993. While playing for the Gators she won NCAA singles titles in 1992 and 1993 and led her team to a National Championship in 1992. That season she became the first player in NCAA history to win three collegiate Grand Slams in a season, earning her the College Player of the Year Award and the Honda Sports Award twice. Raymond was honored for her career at UF with induction into the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003. Since turning pro in 1993 she has captured 320 singles wins on the World Tennis Tour and become a doubles star, winning the Australian Open in 2000, Wimbledon in 2001, the US Open in 2001, 2005 and 2011 and the French Open in 2006. She has also won the Tour Finals four times. In mixed doubles she has been just as successful, winning the US Open in 1996 and 2002, Wimbledon in 1999 and 2012 and the French Open in 2003. She has also captured a bronze medal in mixed doubles at the 2012 London Olympic games. Thus far in her decorated career she has posted a doubles record of 844-330 and won 79 tournaments, earning her over $9.8 million in prize money.
