Luke Prokop made history in 2021 as the first openly gay player under an NHL contract. He was originally selected 73rd overall by the Nashville Predators in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. Prokop came up in the Western Hockey League with the Calgary Hitmen prior to being drafted.
