Lydia Jacoby had an amazing, improbable journey from Alaska to Olympic gold. At just 17 years old, Jacoby became the first swimmer from her home state to qualify for the Olympics. She went on to win the 100-meter backstroke in Tokyo. Jacoby made major improvements on her times in the lead-up to the Games to even make the U.S. swimming team. Her impressive gains in the pool led to the Alaska Sports Hall of Fame giving her the 2021 Pride of Alaska Award. Jacoby is also committed to swim at the University of Texas.
