Marc Mero Biography

Marc Mero is a retired wrestler who fought in World Wrestling Federation, Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, and World Championship Wrestling.  In WCW, he wrestled under the name Johnny B. Badd and won three World Television Championships.  Mero left for the WWF in 1996 and fought under his real name.  That first year, he held the Intercontinental title for a period of time.  Mero eventually retired from wrestling in 2005.   Since retirement, he has actively spoken out against steroid use in wrestling and called for greater regulation.  Many in wrestling have come out against him, but Mero believes that steroids and other drugs contribute to the early death of many in sports entertainment.  Through his charity Champion of Choices, Mero speaks to children of all ages about avoiding drugs and bullying.  Originally, he was an amateur boxer, winning four titles in New York.  Mero won a high school football state championship under current UCF head coach George O’Leary.  He is from Buffalo, New York, but lives in Orlando, Florida.
