Matt Hasselbeck Biography

Matt Hasselbeck was born on September 25, 1975 in Boulder, Colorado to Mary Beth and Don Hasselbeck, the former New England Patriots tight end. Hasselbeck attended Boston College where he played for the Eagles football team from 1994-97. The Green Bay Packers selected Hasselbeck in the 6th round as the 187th overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft. Hasselbeck joined the Packers’ practice squad in 1998 and served as the backup quarterback for Brett Favre. The Packers traded Hasselbeck to the Seattle Seahawks on March 2, 2001. With the Seahawks, Hasselbeck was a 3x Pro Bowl selection, PFW First-Team All-NFC, NFC Champion, and NFC Passing Touchdowns Leader. When Hasselbeck announced that he was leaving Seattle, it was a huge surprise. Pete Carroll announced that re-signing Hasselbeck was the number one offseason priority. Unfortunately, the two could not come to terms and on July 29, 2011, Hasselbeck signed with the Tennessee Titans. The Titans released Hasselbeck on March 18, 2013. The following day, Hasselbeck signed with the Indianapolis Colts.
