Mike Elko Biography

Mike Elko is the head football coach at Texas A&M. Elko got his first head coaching opportunity at Duke from 2022-23, going a combined 16-9. In 2022, he won ACC Coach of the Year, guiding the program to a 9-4 record and win in the Military Bowl over UCF.

Prior to leading the Blue Devils, he developed an excellent reputation as a defensive coordinator at several programs. Elko was most notably the coordinator at Texas A&M from 2018-21. He also led the defense at Hofstra, Bowling Green, Wake Forest and Notre Dame. Elko originally played at Penn and had an unusual coaching start, making stops at places like Stony Brook and the Merchant Marine Academy before getting his opportunity in major college football.
