Nate Silver Biography

Nate Silver is one of the most prominent statisticians in the country. Silver first gained notoriety for his data analytics involving baseball, but also has become involved in analysis with politics and other sports. He is the founder and Editor-In-Chief for data journalism site, FiveThirtyEight and is a special correspondent for ABC News. Silver made his first splash with PECOTA, a system to evaluate the performance and development of MLB players. He sold his company to Baseball Prospectus in 2003 and managed it until 2009. Silver then dug into political forecasting, correctly predicting the results of 49 of the 50 states in the 2008 Presidential election. That garnered him inclusion on the Time 100 list in 2009 as one of the 100 most influential people in the world. In 2012, Silver became a New York Times bestselling author with "The Signal and the Noise."
