R.J. Barrett Biography

R.J. Barrett was the third overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. Before joining the New York Knicks, Barrett had a star-studded freshman campaign for the Duke Blue Devils. He averaged 22.6 points, 7.6 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game on the way to being named a consensus first-team All-American and All-ACC performer. Barrett helped lead Duke all the way to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament. Prior to arriving on campus, he played at Montverde Academy, where he was the Naismith Prep Player of the Year and the Gatorade National Player of the Year. Due to his lofty prep career, Barrett was considered the consensus top overall recuit in the Class of 2018. He originally began his high school career in Canada and as a native of Toronto, he remains one of the top players for the Canadian National Team.
