Ryan Clark Biography

Ryan Clark had a very impactful career in the NFL and is now equally popular as a sports commentator for ESPN. Clark is a Louisiana native and played college football for the LSU Tigers. He had to overcome the odds, originally going undrafted in the NFL, but making his debut with the New York Giants in 2002

He played for the Giants for two seasons, amassing 23 tackles. Clark then went on to play for the Washington Redskins for two seasons and the Pittsburgh Steelers for eight seasons. He shined tremendously with the Steelers, becoming a two-time AFC Champion, Super Bowl XLIII champion, and recipient of the Ed Block Courage Award, an annual award dedicated to the team player that displays the most sportsmanship, inspiration and courage.

After recovering from a serious sickle cell disease in 2007, Clark honorably established the Ryan Clark’s Cure League in order to raise awareness about sickle cell trait with high hopes of finding a cure. He spent one final season with the Redskins in 2014 before entering into broadcasting full-time with ESPN. In 2023, he won the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Personality/Studio Analyst.
