Sergei Fedorov Biography

Sergio Federov played 18 seasons in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, Columbus Blue Jackets and Washington Capitals. A native of Pskov, Soviet Union, Federov got his start in the Soviet League with CSKA Moscow and scored 43 goals in four seasons before heading to the NHL in 1990. From 1990 to 2009 he scored 483 goals and posted 696 assists for a total of 1,179 points in 1,248 career NHL games while also scoring 52 goals and adding 124 assists in the playoffs for a total of 176 points in 183 postseason games. During the last three years of his career he played in the KHL for the Metallurg Magnitogorsk and added another 22 goals and 52 assists to his professional hockey resume. His notable accomplishments include holding the NHL record for most career overtime points with 27, being the first European-born player to win the Hart Memorial Trophy, becoming the first Russian player to score 1,000 points in the NHL, and winning three Stanley Cup titles and three Presidents’ Trophies while playing for the Detroit Red Wings.
