Shane Lechler Biography

Shane Lechler joined the Oakland Raiders in 2000 after a standout career at Texas A&M University in which he served as the team’s starting punter and back-up quarterback. Since joining the Raiders he has earned seven Pro-Bowl selections and been named to nine NFL All-Pro teams while also earning the PFW Golden Toe Award in 2009 and helping the Raiders to an AFC Championship in 2002. Currently Lechler is the NFL’s all-time leader in career punting average and ranks fourth alltime with 54,699 career punting yards. In 2011 he broke the Raiders franchise record with a booming 80-yard punt. The Houston Texans signed Lechler to a threeyear $5.5 million deal in 2013 with a $1 million signing bonus. That same season he became the third punter in NFL history to punt for more than 50,000 career yards.
