Woody Austin Biography

Woody Austin is the 1995 PGA Tour Rookie of the Year and a four-time winner on tour.  Austin’s victories have come at the 1994 Buick Open, the 2004 Buick Championship, the 2007 Stanford St. Jude Championship, and the 2013 Sanderson Farms Championship.  A second place showing behind Tiger Woods at the 2007 PGA Championship is his best finish in a major.  His colorful personality has stuck out in the golf world.  Austin turned pro out of the University of Miami in 1986, but it took him a decade to reach the tour.  A knee injury at the 1987 PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament kept him off the golf course for two years.  To make ends meet, he took jobs as a bank teller and store stock boy.  In 2008, he was inducted into the University of Miami Sports Hall of Fame.  Originally from Tampa, Florida, Austin resides in Derby, Kansas.
