First Female NFL Referee Sarah Thomas Keynotes Northwest Arkansas Business Women’s Conference in September

The Northwest Arkansas Business Women's Conference is bringing in a sports pioneer as keynote speaker. The NFL's first female referee, Sarah Thomas, is attending the event on September 12th.

There will be over 1,300 accomplished businesswomen from across the region attending the conference from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the John Q. Hammonds Center. The event is in its 19th year and it is currently sold out.

In addition to multiple speakers, the ATHENA Woman of the Year and Young Woman of the Year will be handed out.  Thomas should have an inspirational message for the attendees.

Thomas became the NFL's first full-time female official in 2015. She began a career in the sport in 1996 and was also the first woman to officiate a Division 1 college football game.

Thomas was a full-time official for Conference USA beginning in 2007. In 2009, she was the first woman to be an official for a bowl game when she worked the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl.

During the offseason, Thomas works as a pharmaceutical representative. She was an Academic All-American while playing basketball at the University of Mobile.
